Our Department, which started its activities in the 1995-1996 academic year, produced its first graduates in 2000. The department consists of 5 divisions: Photogrammetry, Geodesy, Land Management, Cartography, and Surveying Techniques. It has a staff of 6 Professors, 1 Associate Professor, 2 Assistant Professors, and 2 Research Assistants.
The number of active students in our department is 86. Education and research & development (R&D) activities are carried out in the Cartography Laboratory, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Laboratory, Geographic Information Systems Laboratory, and Prof. Dr. Bayram TURGUT Geodesy and Surveying Techniques Application Laboratory.
Geomatics Engineering is a branch of engineering that covers all activities related to the collection, calculation, mathematical analysis, and graphical presentation of data by referencing a spatial coordinate system.
Our students can take part in Scientific Research Projects, including those supported by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) and various Ministries, such as earthquake research and the mapping of archaeological and historical remains. Additionally, our students have the opportunity to do internships at public institutions in Türkiye such as Cadastral Directorates, Municipalities, the Ministry of National Education, the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ), Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO), and BOTAŞ, as well as at banks, real estate valuation firms, and energy companies.
